On Wednesday, JANUARY 29th at 7PM, please join Bruno Gulli at Bluestockings for a presentation on his recent book Earthly Plenitudes: A Study on Sovereignty and Labor.
Following his previous book, Labor of Fire, Earthly Plenitudes studies the relationship between labor and sovereignty. From Leibniz to Nancy and Bataille, from Duns Scotus to Agamben and Marx, from Maritain and Heidegger to Schmitt, it looks at various theories of sovereignty and their problematization or outright denial: their confrontation with the world of labor and everyday life. Through the questions of the superexploitation of contingent labor, the social construction of disability, and the work of care, it arrives at the notion of sovereign labor as labor without sovereignty.
